Pyrite Sun 3-3/4"

Normally, Pyrite forms into spherical nodules.
But, when trapped under pressure within shale, they form laterally as flat disks.
We call these Pyrite Suns because of their appearance.
Pyrite Suns form worldwide, but usually only a fraction of an inch in size.
The largest come from the Illinois coal fields.
This Pyrite Sun measures 3-1/2" to 3-3/4" diameter.
