Tourmaline is a silicate crystal with a MOHS hardness of 7.0 to 7.5 and a trigonal crystal system.
Black Tourmaline was first found deep in Saxony, Germany in the year 1400.
In the 1800s, Black Tourmaline was made popular by Tiffany & Co.
It is said to consume negative energies and remove dark feelings, giving the wearer a cloak of protection.
Tourmaline can become electrically charged by rubbing or heating it.
